Are you ready to let your energy tank go up to the sky? Pennan Brae made the ideal fuel, “Zulu,” with its energetic, vivid atmosphere.

Normally, you need to search for activities that will give you an adrenaline rush, but hearing “Zulu” will give you the same result without lifting a finger. The single is insanely dynamic! It will make it impossible for you not to bounce, and even if you didn’t move your body, it will move on its own, and you’ll find your heart beating like crazy and pulling at its chances to pop out of your chest.

The vintage vibe is present from the first second. Once I hit the play button, it felt like Clint Eastwood was about to enter. I’m not sure if only the music has this effect or if it has something to do with the music video, but this is the first sign of all the elements’ brilliance, individually and collectively. The quick tempo, rock ‘n’ roll style, and 60’s influence are on fire match. It’s as if you want to take a breather before continuing, but there’s no time; you have to keep up with the rhythm of the energy race. The guitars’ riffs themselves fells like they’re racing, but not by cars, by dancing.  The guitar solo is dazzling and a mood-lifter. The lyrics are mastered. It’s catchy to the ears, but not easy to remember at the same time. Nevertheless, it makes you want to memorize them so you can sing along with all your power. Vocally, I adored the whisper-like singing with an edgy, rocky timbre; it fitted perfectly with the ambience. The “ooh” from the female backing vocals, with their gospel-like sound, gives rises the 60’s to 90’s feel.

“Zulu” is the first track from the “Picked” album, which will be released in the spring of 2022. In November 2021, Brae released “Planted,” Vol. 01 of “The Garden Series.” And the 10-track release “Picked” is Vol.02, and “Zulu” made it plain that we’re in for a mind-blowing album.
