Formed in 2011, Fake Figures mix their diverse heavy influences with big melodies and in-your-face attitude in a unique mix that’s their very own. In November 2019 Faker Figures dropped their EP We are the Dead, and as they are preparing for the release of their upcoming EP Spring 2023 introducing their new vocalist Steve Ludwig (Fake Figures’s ex-drummer) and their new drummer Matt Horwitz, Fake Figures decided to refresh our memory with You’re Distant that was originally released on the 2019 EP We are the Dead. Let me tell you more about it.
Wasting no time, Fake Figures opened You’re Distant with an exploding energetic boost that’ll get you on the edge of your seat ready for massive headbanging. The jazzy insanely entertaining drums, crispy heavy guitars, and killer groove are here to stay, all led by powerful expressive vocals and a thrashy/punk-ish attitude. You’re Distant has some massive dynamic twists and turns that’s been cleverly arranged and orchestrated, with dense sometimes-sludgy heavy riffs that send irresistible headbanging waves mixed with melodic ones in perfect harmony and layering, creating a deep multi-layered relentless structure that’ll keep you hooked and entertained.
Fake Figures‘ You’re Distant has a damn solid structure with an unstoppable flow. It keeps on pushing forward harder into bigger sound and progression smoothly and seamlessly as they take you on a dynamic roller coaster ride, showing that those guys know their sound and direction really well. I’m definitely looking forward to Fake Figures‘ upcoming EP, keep ’em coming guys. Cheers!
