Young Jimmy has emerged from The Bronx, New York with a unique musical brand he called hood-rock. After picking up the guitar at an early age, and absorbing the tastes of his step-father and hip-hop legend Grandmaster Mele Mel, his place in the industry began to cement. Following along from the success of his debut album ‘Rockett 88’, Jimmy now releases the single ‘Heavy.’

In ‘Heavy.’ Young Jimmy’s hood-rock mix of hip-hop and rock climb to new heights, diving into the darkness of emotion in a heated diss track. From the opening moments, the sounds of The Beatles’ ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ ring out, laced with Jimmy’s gritty lyricism and unapologetic shots at his enemies.

The psychedelic atmosphere is empowered by Kam Franklin’s soaring vocal melodies, cascading down on the track with power, while Young Jimmy walks the line between otherworldly guitar tones and a descent into distortion-drenched fury.

The line is eventually crossed as Jimmy allows his guitar to roar opening the door for an even more brutal and genre-defying second section, set to be released on a limited edition vinyl pressing. Morphing Lennon’s lead lines into a brand-new outlet.

The artist shares, “The record is a diss track against my enemies, haters and music industry professionals who I have personal beef with. Inspired by classic rock music, I’ve been working on the song since 2020 making this the last song of the ‘Rockett 88’ recordings.

I met Kam Franklin in the summer of 2023 and recorded her vocals soon after in Maine before finishing the track at The Cutting Room in NYC. The song is a brutal evil track directed at my opps. With twirling organs, roaring guitars, disrespectful war-like lyrics, and haunting vocals soaring over everything.”
