Skycall’s latest single is a trippy piece of melodic classic rock that blends the crunchy dryness of the Red Hot Chili Peppers with the psychedelic blues of Hendrix to bring us one truly refreshing, guitar-driven banger.
Skycall was first formed in 2019 by Fabrice Duval and Luc Erwin in the French town of Colmar. The duo split in 2023 to pursue personal endeavors and since then Duval decided to carry the Skycall name forward, starting with an album of original tunes of which ‘Wendy’ is a single.
‘Wendy’ is tight and melodic. A little tropical and quite funky, with distinctively French vocals that sound chic and elegant, ‘Wendy’ benefits from a plethora of riffs that are played on a marvelously well-overdriven guitar part. The layering is superb with a subdued rhythm part that’s tight and restrained, backing a manic and flamboyant lead part. Together, with the song’s infectious melodies and funky beat, ‘Wendy’ proves to be heaps of fun.
A delicious new single from Skycall, ‘Wendy’ has got us excited for more music from Skycall’s upcoming album.
