Sam Brace’s return is most welcome! After a short break, the London based independent rocker is back with ‘We Go High’, a riff-fueled anthem with a confident gait and an unforgettable charisma, inspired by real-life events that many would be able to relate to in one way or another.
‘We Go High’ is Sam Brace’s return, a part of a 4-track EP he’ll be putting out late November, and as a song, Brace is stating his belief that this set of songs is the best he has ever put forth. The song is pure indie rock joy. The swung triplet rhythm, hairy-chested stride in the chords and riffs, the juicy guitar tones, and Brace’s -as usual- fantastic vocal delivery all ensure that ‘We Go High’ is one terrific listen that will leave you thirsty for more.
With words inspired by an overly indulgent ex, Brace’s ex was obsessed with social media and recreational chemicals, but the story could apply to anybody who’s been in a similar situation, making for a relatable listen that’s not as removed from real life as rock can usually be. Brace’s vocal delivery on the song is incredibly lively, raw, and entertaining, alongside his carefully constructed melody and lyrical rhythm that shifts from the straightforward verses to choruses that mimic the swung rhythm with similarly swung vocal delivery. ‘We Go High’ is a deceptively nuanced song.
A great return by Sam Brace, who is in the process of forming a live band, hoping to hit the road soon, ‘We Go High’ is full of entertainment, musicianship, intricacy, and panache.
