Infectious alternative rock vibes are all over Chris Pellnat’s latest single ‘We Are Not Robots’. Genre-hopping, quite exciting, fresh, and inspiring, ‘We Are Not Robots’ is an immediately catchy listen that, given some plays, grows to be quite addictive.

Chris Pellnat is a veteran musician based in Stuyvesant, New York, and his addictive sound is due to a superb mix of alternative lofi-ness, psychedelia-inspired organ swells, a vintage and hazy production, and a swirly, bold composition. ‘We Are Not Robots’ strides the line between multiple genres quite elegantly, landing in a place that is exquisitely on its own.

Discussing the lush arrangement of the song we will find a superb sense of balance to its elements. From the roomy, minimal, and punchy drum part, the bouncy and buoy bass, crunchy overdriven rhythm guitars, the charismatic synths responsible for much of the song’s character throughout its different sections, and finally, Pellnat’s approachable yells and cheeky, quirky lyrics, we find a song that’s balanced and focused, yet somehow, paradoxically freeform and lighthearted.

‘We Are Not Robots’ and its lofi video are both wonderful to experience. A standout listen for sure, ‘We Are Not Robots’ highlights Chris Pellnat’s long and rich history as a musician and a songwriter with a song that’s engaging and extremely well-delivered.
