Germany-based composer and DIY artist Dominik Matzka just released his fifth single, it’s titled “Was Ist Dann Los”…translated as “What’s up then?”…a genre-bending song with a deep meaning to its words and story…

Dominik started to think about the idea that when we’re grown-ups, we could deal with any problem after his former relationship ended in 2017…this made him think of taking the helm of his life and develop his personal growth and follow the road meant for him to unlock his potential.

Dominik created a melting pot of many genres and emotions with his latest release “Was Ist Dann Los”…the song starts with a very strong folkloric mood, with the harp and the old historical or makeshift percussive sounds…

…strings seep in bit by bit, building up the emotions and getting us ready for what’s to come next.

So far, the piano holds the melodic background…until the build-up reaches its summit then drums and huge wide string sections start filling the air…

The orchestral parts were actually recorded by the renowned Film Orchestra Babelsberg, which was always a passion within Dominik to pursue these cinematic storytelling huge sounds…and he did this time with “Was Ist Dann Los”.

Another strong suite is Dominik’s writing, his lyrics are almost all questions…questions that will make us think and not just take any answer…the lyrics are very thought-provoking and with the pacing and balancing of the composition, it’s like Dominik is giving us time to think for the answers ourselves…he asks…

“What if all this is not at all fucked up?

What if the cause of my problems is a farce?

What if the incurable patient is in fact the doctor?

What’s up then?”

Dominik wants us also to go through the same experience of self-realization that he went through, taking us on this journey to better know ourselves…and this journey is of the highest quality, sonically and ideologically.

Dominik, we thank you for the music and for making us think…that might be the first step in the right direction, instead of being consumed with life…we wish you all the best in your personal and professional lives and we can’t wait to hear what you come up with next.

Cheers!
