As he prepares for the release of his two records Accelerated Heartbreak and Built To Last next year, Australian singer/songwriter Derek Lee Goodreid dropped his latest single Voodoo on the 1st of October 2023. Creating a unique mix that’s his very own, Derek Lee Goodreid takes us on a special sonic experience in Voodoo that he described as

“a tribute to the magic and mystery of psychobilly and a homage to The Cramps, one of my greatest musical influences. It’s a potion brewed for those who relish the dark side of rock ‘n’ roll, perfect for getting your ghoul on this Halloween.”

Let me tell you more about it.

With a rocking playful riff and raw fuzzy tone, Derek Lee Goodreid opened Voodoo. Goodreid‘s guitar tone and blues-influenced progressions created a raw texture with a powerful, catchy groove, while he was throwing enjoyable licks and solos everywhere creating cool build-ups that led Voodoo‘s smooth progression and kept on pushing the dynamics to the next level aiming for a bigger sound. Voodoo‘s groovy flow played a major role in its irresistible hooking sound, it seamlessly carries the listeners throughout its shifts while keeping the listeners fully hooked and entertained, showing Derek Lee Goodreid‘s clever writing especially with such a brief, straight-to-the-point tune.

Voodoo is an extremely enjoyable piece by Derek Lee Goodreid, clearly demonstrating his deep rocking roots, well-knowledge of his sound, and musicianship as he steered his melodies keeping his authentic, organic sound intact. Looking forward to more from Derek Lee Goodreid, keep on rocking. Cheers!
