’Van Trippin’, Myles from Home’s latest single, is just heaps of unpredictable fun. With twisty time signatures, whimsical instrumentation, and a jangling mix, ‘Van Trippin’ is a thoroughly gripping musical experience.

Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Myles from Home are a Canadian folk and indie rock trio spearheaded by musical visionary Myles Hildebrand. The sounds the trio brings on their latest single is rich with melodic and rhythmic experimentation, resulting in a piece of music that easily stands out.

Written to commemorate a van road trip between Hildebrand and a friend in which they wore very little other than a hat and a necklace, ‘Van Trippin’ is a song about the boundless freedom that can be found on the open road, and the amount of rhythmic liberty the trio take in their songwriting is easily in service of this idea. ‘Van Trippin’ is odd and confusing to count along, but the band does a great job in making sense out of the chaos, resulting in a song that is wildly enjoyable. The guitars and their wacky rhythm lock in tightly with the lively drums and juicy bass grooves.

For such a tight and minimal arrangement, Myles from Home’s sound is definitely not minimal. Quite the opposite in fact. For a trio, Myles from Home are exquisitely loud and jangly on their latest spicy release ‘Van Trippin’.
