UFO by Sonic Winter

…talk about an experience, a virtual journey on a musical stream…

Paris-based musical duo Sonic Winter’s latest single “UFO” is the complete package.

Going for a very unique fusion of the alt-rock/rap/hip-hop/cinematic/electronic music genre is such an achievement in and of itself, but that is just not giving it enough credit…Sonic Winter created a unique beast with “UFO”, they put 150% in it and it shows very clearly…

The alt-rock sections are very beefed up and in your face…drums erupt…guitars riff away a huge wall of sound…the atmospheric elements fill the air…

…the ambient electro sections are like an ocean wave, slowly modulating and always evolving…

…the vocal delivery of the lyrics are presented in a more of a rap/hip-hop approach, it’s not singing, it’s a unique percussive vocal delivery performance…that’s a mouthful.

The two minds behind Sonic Winter are guitarist Jean-Marc Millière and keyboardist Francis Girola…however, with each of their musical journeys they feature some of the most talented musicians around the world…I love how Sonic Winter does this, it keeps everything always fresh yet maintains their signature sound and compositional directions.

“UFO” is a hybrid beast, not just filled with many musical elements from different genres…but also on an emotional level…it feels like a movie in itself…the beginning of the song is the first act, where you get to know the characters, the music is ambient, yet builds up…going into a more powerful performance with strong rap/hip-hop energy to it…then going in for the kill with the third act, where the proverbial melodic volcano erupts into a super powerful rock presence, lead guitar soaring away, huge riffs, huge drums…it’s a musical explosion that sends us off…

..only to press play one more time and relive this amazing experience all over again.
