1. Skid Row

When the name Skid Row is heard somewhere, we mainly remember the Sebastian Bach era. As we all know, the band have faced many lineup changes, but even though the band changed their style, they remained for dedicated fans in their memory with the glam – kinda – look.

2. Ratt

Since they went on hiatus in 2014, we are not sure about their plans. But their previous 7 studio albums, the band were keen to deliver glam, hard rock and heavy metal elements in each album, and they did it good job babe!

3. Mötley Crüe

One of bands that I’ve respected their decision to retire after 10 successful studio albums since 1981 till now. Mötley Crüe is considered one of the most controversial bands in the rock history. I honestly believe that they were one of the developers of this genre, you know why? Check this song below and compare it to others.

4. Poison

If you don’t know the name, then I am sure that you know the band. Yes, Poison‘s music appeared in musical theaters, TV shows, films and even in video games. Check this out and let me know if you heard it before…

5. Def Leppard

I bet you were waiting for that. From my point of view, Def Leppard is the greatest glam metal band of all time. The band was formed in the late 70s and has a lot of successful singles and studio albums. For the record; Def Leppard is one of only five rock bands with two original studio albums selling over 10 million copies each in the US. The others are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen. Both Pyromania and Hysteria albums were featured in The Rolling Stone‘s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

6. Europe

The Swedish hard rock and glam metal band gained a huge commercial success through their third album, The Final Countdown. Though the band went on and off many times but still their legacy remains till now.

7. Dokken

Like most of the bands in that era, they were considered as hard rock, heavy metal and glam metal acts. Dokken was formed in the late 70s and split up in the late 80s, but came back in 1993 till our present time. The band went into many lineup changes but most of the fans consider their 80s era as their peak.

8. Whitesnake

After leaving Deep Purple in 1978 David Coverdake formed Whitesnake. As other glam metal bands were into hard rock and heavy metal, Whitesnake also added elements of rock and blues into their style. Whenever the band name is mentioned, most rockers and metalheads remember Vai as he was in a very short period with the band, anyhow, the band is still considered as one of the most important glam metal specifically and hard rock in general.

9. Twisted Sister

One of the most controversial bands in rock music, as many of the band’s songs explore themes of parent vs. child conflicts and criticisms of the educational system. The band’s legacy remains till now, yet, their mainstream and commercial success was more in the 80s era.

10. Bon Jovi

The variety that was given by Jon Bon Jovi of musical styles as well as his stage charisma helped the band to take it to the next level to become one of the most successful mainstream bands of all time. As the band was more into the glam era in the 80s and changed in the early 90s, they still remain one of the influential music group till present.

Of course, there are numerous bands in this era but in my list I picked the most influential bands who were capable to leave a huge impact within the rock history.

Expected a band and didn’t find in this list? My second part is on the way…
