After picking the guitar at the early age of 10, Dean Patrick Schumacher aka Deano went on a 30 year hiatus before rediscovering his love for writing and playing at the age of 40, and the rest was history. With a mind focused on giving himself some creative freedom, Deano took the decision of releasing singles instead of binding himself to a record writing process. On the 4th of July 2022, Deano dropped his single Tillman and today, we’re going to dig deep into it together.
Deano opened Tillman with some warm, mellow country-influenced acoustic guitars, with outstanding playing and writing. His sense of melody and awareness of his sound and where he’s heading appears clearly as Tillman progressed, he smoothly leads a dramatically dynamic structure that seamlessly shifts from those mellow country vibes to heavy energetic ones, with powerful vocal delivery and electric/acoustic guitar mix that perfectly match each and every turn the song takes. These well-written and arranged shifts were organically done in a way that made me hooked and paying attention to every note till the very end. Deano shows his laid-back, blues rock style with a bunch of beautiful licks and solos with on-point timing, elevating the song’s emotional side and delivering his message.
Deano demonstrates his beautiful songwriting and playing skills on Tillman, I would dare to say that he smoothly mixed his diverse influences in a way I never imagined was possible, and created a catchy tune that’ll make you all dig deep into his catalog. Looking forward to more from Deano, keep on rocking man. Cheers!
