Failure is rarely celebrated, but an exception is in suicide.

If you happen to experience any suicidal thoughts, please remember that they are just thoughts. Let them pass, and seek help from trained professionals, family, and friends. They all care about you.

Joyce Tratnyek is a 19 year old ambient indie rock artist from Portland, Oregon, currently based in NYC, and her upcoming single “The Cold Will Last Forever” will be released on the 5th of December.

Originally left in a suicide note after a failed attempt by Joyce, The Cold Will Last Forever is now a reminder of a struggle that so many young people suffer, and more than 700,000 people end their lives globally every year because of it (according to the World Health Organisation).

The Cold Will Last Forever has become a “fan favourite” according to Joyce herself, possibly due to how brutally honest and heartfelt the song is. The harsh distortion and guitar-based instrumentation carry through the track, and Joyce’s singing sounds almost on the verge, all capturing the real emotion of what she was going through.

Joyce Tratnyek decided to release The Cold Will Last Forever, hoping it will be a voice that resonates with those going through a similar situation, letting them know that they are not alone, and there are people who care for them and want to help. The song is open and vulnerable because that’s exactly what it should and needs to be.

Stay safe, Joyce, and thank you for your honesty.
