The first single from JD Days’s upcoming album is a brilliant way to kickstart hype for a fresh collection of songs from this band of veteran musicians. After a decade of amassing a cult following in their local London scene, JD Days are ready to embrace a Britpop resurgence with their terrific ‘Take Me Down’.

Based in London, the group is a five-piece rock outfit whose sound touches on rock, indie, and Britpop, before landing on its own unique niche that’s a rather stylish blend of a lot of colors. On their latest single ‘Take Me Down’, the upbeat composition suggests pop while the battling lead guitars scream hard rock, the steady, roomy beat is Britpop-inspired, while the hearty vocals drip with a low-riding indie charm.

The song is shock full of detail in its guitar work, specially with the hard flanging effect going on with one of the lead guitars, but the mix handles the traffic rather spectacularly. ‘Take Me Down’ is a gorgeously mixed song that sounds rich. The intersecting guitars, as messy as they seem, never actually clash. Instead, the weaving they do helps create a lush tapestry of overdriven, rhythm/lead guitar goodness that underlines everything.

A great introduction to the band’s upcoming piece of work, ‘Take Me Down’ got us readily excited for what the group has in store for us on their album.
