New Jersey singer-songwriter Tabitha Booth is back in 2024 just in the nick of time with her powerful EP Highway To The Heart. It’s her first release since her second album Wolf Moon dropped in 2023, and the new four-track showcases Booth’s distinct artistic process, bringing unique and dynamic soundscapes.
Just shy of 17 minutes, Highway To Heart packs a lot into each track, compacting a robust reflection of sonic range and emotional context. Weaving cutting guitar riffs, resonant basslines and ethereal woodwind melodies, it’s atmospheric but springs into punchy power when necessary.
Tabitha explains the title track, “The title track, “Highway to the Heart” is a song about oppression and escape through the feminine lens. I wrote the lyrics in honor of my mother who taught me that having a big heart and willingness to give, that having empathy and emotional depth, does not, in fact, mean that the world will reciprocate any of it; they will not have etiquette, respect or gratitude; and might bleed you dry while they remain unconscious at the wheel.”
Beginning her career in 2015 with Altered States, Booth has garnered recognition and accolades like Best Live Album from the Elephant Talk Indie Festival and Best Music Video from the Grand Jury. Her signing to Mint400 Records helps her to direct fearless creativity and magnetic live performances, so Highway To The Heart is a great introduction to Tabitha’s sound for new listeners!
