“Stress” by Hebecta is one of those songs that’s more of a listening experience than just a regular song. Although the track is less than 3 minutes in duration, it takes you on a very special journey thanks to its different melodies, dense hard rock arrangement, and super dynamic vocals.
The track begins with a clean guitar chord progression, then suddenly changes to have distortion. After that, we have the very thumpy and energetic verse arrangement…which is followed by a part very similar to the intro. A soft clean part followed by a heavy chunky riff once again…I thought that this is only gonna be in the intro but they implement it beautifully into the chorus melody and the riff/refrain after it.
As for the vocals, they remind me so much of the way Morgan Lander of the band Kittie sang her vocal lines. It was at the solo/interlude part that I noticed this whole song emulates the feeling of a Nu-metal song, although it’s clearly more leaning towards Hard Rock and Alternative Rock. The way the vocals are malleable enough to sing over the rough parts, as well as the soft was something I highly appreciated…and the vocalist’s timbre (voice color) is very unique and dark.
All in all, this is a pretty energizing song. It doesn’t shy away from putting clean guitars in the middle of heavily distorted ones, and the drum arrangements are some of the best I’ve ever heard. I recommend this song to everyone who used to like Nu-metal back when it was trending and the bands made catchy songs…this track has the same feeling but in a more accessible modern rock spectacle that’s definitely gonna grab your attention.
