LA-based artist Courtney Nord takes us on a journey to the heart of the 90s, where music found a new life…an iconic period of music that is for sure…and Courtney does the impossible, creating an excellent rendition of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by the iconic Nirvana.
What Courtney did different here is that this rendition of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is not a cover, but instead, it’s a reimagining of the song…and not only that, but Courtney takes it to the next level, by doing it in two flavors…the rock rendition and the symphonic one…didn’t see that one coming, right?
Courtney’s rock version is both powerful and vulnerable…with some amazing ambient verses and explosive choruses…excellent vibes all the way…and Courtney’s vocals are absolutely mesmerizing, with many layers of rich harmonies that puts a unique twist on the original song.
…then we’re hit with the other rendition…the symphonic one…taking things through an unexpected turn…a plot twist if you will, in musical form…huge string sections and a more post-rock direction…very tasteful.
Courtney’s symphonic rendition was thoughtfully designed for inclusion in TV, film trailers or any production looking to get that touch of nostalgia, but with epic proportions.
…and with Courtney’s mesmerizing and hypnotic vocals…you can’t go wrong, her renditions are full of storytelling and film-soundtrack-like essence, making it a reimagining that shouldn’t be missed.
We wish all the best to Courtney…and with the levels of talent shown in both releases, we’re sure that what’s to come will be mind-blowing… can’t wait.
Cheers!
