As the “New year, new me” tradition goes, British rockers 9 o’clock Nasty welcome the new year with a new sound on their new rebellious single Rise Up. “A ballad of resistance. A love song to revolution.” as they described it, Rise Up will give you another perspective of their work, let me tell you more about it
9 o’clock Nasty’s acoustic mellow approach on Rise Up was a bit surprising, but as I listened to it, those guys’ attitude and subtle groove are still there. I think choosing this approach gave 9 o’clock Nasty’s lyrics more space to shine, and that folky groovy melody provided the most suitable engaging setup and mood. The singalong vibes of the chorus perfectly fit the song’s theme, which will sound super powerful with fans singing “RISE UP, RISE UP” during live performances. Rise Up has a remarkably fluid structure, it goes smoothly throughout its parts seamlessly with its solid harmony and easygoing percussive pace.
9 o’clock Nasty shows their diverse writing skills and how they can use those skills in setting the vibes they need, using the sound they want perfectly! They managed to take us on a chill trip with catchy melodies and lyrics that we all needed through these dark times, making Rise Up one of those songs that can easily slip into anyone’s “on-repeat” playlist. I’m always looking forward to more from 9 o’clock Nasty, wishing you a great year guys, cheers!
