Back in 2017, three dudes met at the prestigious Berklee College of Music and formed their alternative-heavy rock band, Skunk Oil. The Brazilian musicians are Dennis D’Angelo (Guitars), Lucas Tadini (Keyboards), along with their former drummer, Caio Moskalkoff. Today, they’re releasing their latest single ‘Godlike’ Let’s find out the story.
Well, I have mixed feelings regarding these guys indeed. Don’t get me wrong, the music is great…and this is my problem! Before listening to the track I thought it will be like any new hard rock release that we see these days, just about some heavy riffs and hard beats. Actually, it’s totally the opposite; these dudes care about the core, the structure, and the founding elements of the track. And this is very rare nowadays. Okay, back to my mixed feelings, well, ‘Godlike’ is like you’re listening to a mix of Queens Of The Stone Age, Alice In Chains, Black Sabbath, and I may add to such iconic acts some progressive elements by Savatage! Yes, originality pours out of every note yet the classic progressive influences come across as evident at moments. There is not a second that will not be enjoyed after listening to this Skunk Oil‘s music.
