Heavy/Power Metal newcomers Rebel are from Hungary. Carlo “”Devil”” Szaládi (ex-Crossholder/Words of Blood) founded the band in 2012. Formed of former members of bands like Crossholder and Életveszély, the band found success in their homeland. They released their debut EP Burned in Sin (Bűnben égve) in 2014 followed by their debut album If the End Comes.

Most of the tracks are technically in the same place. They’re heavy yet as melodic as a Heavy Metal track could get. They’re pleasant and catchy in Metal standards and along with the lead guitar work and the vocals, it gets clear why the band is popular in Hungary. As easy and pleasant to listen to for fans of Heavy Metal, the tracks don’t offer something new to the genre. That applies especially- not exclusively- to riffs and vocal melodies. Besides, all tracks are kind of alike which makes one get bored in the middle of listening to the whole album. That being said, the album is a strong start and is very promising for the band.

Highlights: ‘Title track’, ‘Pokol Tüze’, and ‘Istenek Istene’.
