While Melbourne was in the middle of the lockdown, Gilbert focused on the production of his alt-indie tune which ends up with an outstanding result. Frankly, his emotive vocals were the main reason to like the ‘Promised Land,’ definitely, the music is very nice, and I loved the backing vocals and how they served the track perfectly, but his voice is one of the most unique vocals that I have found recently in such alt-indie pop styles. We can say that the songwriting and recording process took a huge part of his time and this can be found in song chorus and bridge as well “In fact, over 200 separate audio tracks went into the creation of its final form, which included an entire choir ensemble and string section.” – Matthew explained. In my opinion, the song was built on one main factor which is “short and sweet,” check out his music and feel the vibes below!
