After the success of his debut album Celestial Desires, two years ago, the native American/Canadian musician Keanu Ienco released his new single ‘Playful Love,’ which “refers to the platonic love one feels with family or friends” as he uttered. Let’s find out more.
At first, I have always loved progressive riffs combined with various styles including jazz and metal, as you get an extraordinary outcome especially when the artist is so talented and exceptional. In fact, listening to ‘Playful Love’ gave me the feeling of listening to various iconic instrumentalists in one song, including Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, and Paul Gilbert. Yeah! Imagine when you combine all of these together, even each has his own great characteristics for sure. The song “Playful Love” reflects on platonic love and the feeling of loss, transitioning from somber to hopeful tones. It is dedicated to his departed grandmother, brother, and dog.
Keanu, an Indigenous jazz/rock artist, blends Native American culture with dynamic guitar soundscapes. He discovered his musical passion in childhood, turning professional at thirteen and later completing a Jazz Studies degree. Keanu has performed with industry professionals like Steve Vai and draws inspiration from his heritage and instrumental heroes, creating emotional musical journeys. In my view, this is the birth of a new rising instrumentalist star. I cannot wait for his next release indeed. Cheers to that!
