With a collaboration that spans across 4 different states, Juan Blak alongside Justin Hall (producer), AIR-IK (guitars), and Gene Migaki (bass) gave Tina Turner‘s One of the Living a twist. Bringing diverse sounds and elements to the song’s mix, Blak and his partners succeeded in offering a different perspective that’s their own. Let me tell you more about it.

Switching big disco beats with deep bass and slowly building-up drums took the song into a dark territory, promising a total make-over. Blak‘s mysterious vocals, subtle atmospheric synth, raw distorted guitars, and punching pace totally flipped the song’s sound, taking it into the realms of gothic rock and its heavy emotional mood. Blak created an interesting catchy progression that empowered the structure and offered hooking dynamic twists and turns, keeping the listeners on board as new elements and shifts are introduced as we move forward towards a bigger and heavier sound with an always evolving killer guitar work, unstoppable heart-hitting bass, and mood-setting synths.

One of the Living shows Juan Blak‘s seasoned writing skills and well-knowledge of his sound and direction, as taking a shot on such a song by such a great artist as Tina Turner is a bold step that was skillfully handled from my POV. Looking forward to more from Juan Blak, keep on rocking. Cheers!
