WILL IT EVER BE ENOUGH?

Nope, looks like it will never be! Once again the trans-punk trio, The Daffodildos, are back with quite a daring and hard-hitting single titled Never Enough. This release is primarily written by the band’s lead singer, Emily Flea. The artist is openly and courageously delving into quite a personal ground where she genuinely explores her own battles with addiction, selflessly providing her audience with a genuine release to connect and relate to whenever needed.

Daffodildos are no strangers to daring topics and provocative themes. We are still not forgetting their previous release, What’s Your Excuse? Addressing issues such as climate change and global warming. With Never Enough, the band brings to light another important topic, which is drug and alcohol abuse. The band is signed to Not Saints, the world’s first record label dedicated to supporting musicians in recovery from addiction. The label provides a platform for artists to share their stories through music, providing them a safe and open platform where they can freely express themselves. A platform where their journeys are embraced and shared with the world for solidarity, camaraderie, and most of all inspiration.

“It’s never enough!” Is the signature chorus-line of this release. It perfectly captures a common philosophy, as well as a trap that most substance abusers fall into. It is the illusion of having control over our desires and yearnings, which is usually not as easy as we think, no matter how strong or strong-willed we are. Flea has skillfully captured one of the most difficult moments in a substance-abuser’s journey, and cleverly portrayed it in a one-line sentence.

Flea’s vocal performance as well as her genuine lyrical writing are greatly supported and complemented by the band’s signature sound of fuzzy guitars, fierce drumming, and punching bass-lines. All working together to provide an emotive punk-rock experience that is absolutely unique to the sound of Daffodildos.

Never Enough by Daffodildos is, in fact, the third single of their upcoming EP, Not My Cup of Tea, which is set for release on the 4th of October, 2024. This single is surely one that leaves us eagerly wondering and wanting to know more about what is coming next. Which topics will be addressed? How would the band sound in the rest of the EP tracks? Could the topics get more controversial or personal? All these questions and no answers yet. We are just so eagerly waiting for the EP! Keep them on your radar, peeps!
