Message – or Resala – is an Egyptian Rock band that goes back in date to 2008. They claim that their message is their music; they use music to deliver messages and express themselves. Their latest song and music video is a message header towards ISIS/ISIL.
‘Karrart Akon’ – literally translates to I decided to be – briefly displays an execution held supposedly by a member of ISIS, the lyrics goes on against ISIS’s violence and inhumanity. Afterwards, the message changes and they decide to forgive ISIS despite all their crimes. I like the idea of using music to deliver messages but I do not like this message in particular. I think it’s wrong and not heart-felt. You cannot forgive such inhumane savages whose aims are far from noble and who execute innocent people.
Now, the production of the video is not bad, as we know they have to work with what they have. But other than that, there is minimum about the song and the video that actually impressed me.
