Nothing’s like the free-spirited-hard-hitting attitude of the alternative rock and rock artist…
…and today we’re checking out one of those bands…The Lunar Keys.
Coming all the way from Guildford, Southern England.
England has been one of the magical wells that keeps on giving the world amazing artists…and we’d wait for nothing less really…The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones…I can keep going on forever, so I’ll stop right here………Pink Floyd too!
…ok, sorry, I’ll stop.
So that’s why whenever I come across a British band, I know they have something unique to add to the musical world and they are never anything short of impressive.
So, The Lunar Keys and their new release “Life Is A Dirty War”…
It’s a metaphorical song that talks about a bad relationship and facing it while also facing the challenges of everyday…and how it is reminiscent of a dirty war…
…such a relatable premise, everyone has been in a bad relationship…one way or another.
I am always a fan of relatable song topics and “Life Is A Dirty War” hit a very sensitive nerve here…
Let’s get to know who’s doing what exactly in The Lunar Keys…
Dom on the drums
Lexi on Keys and backing vocals
The Steve on Guitar and backing vocals
JC bass and lead vocals
Apparently, The Lunar Keys are not your run-of-the-mill alternative rock band…they have messages and causes to support, this instantly puts them on such a high pedestal for me and really for anyone experiencing their art.
So, let me take you back a little…they have 5 releases under their belt…
…and for each one of their releases they did something different.
For the release of “Silent Ricochet” they aided the arrival of 800 trees….and counting, done through a collaboration with the Trees for the Future organization.
While for the release of “Stop This”, “Oxygen Type”, “Once” and “Maniac”…they raised money for several charities including…Nordoff Robbins, Oxygen, The Trussell Trust and The Nurses at the Royal Surrey Hospital…
How amazing is this?
This time around with the release of “Life Is A Dirty War” they will continue their tradition of giving back and showing gratitude, but this time closer to the heart…where everything started…The Lunar Keys will play a free show for all of their key supporters at a location in their hometown as a huge thank you.
This completely puts The Lunar Keys at not just a band, but some kind of philanthropists, helping out and giving back to the community.
So hearing all of that about The Lunar Keys, why don’t we put their latest song “Life Is A Dirty War” on our favorite speakers or headphones…and give it a go…
I’m ready…let’s go…
The song starts with an anthemic intro, huge vocals, layers of vocals…a strong yet emotional piano line…
…right away it jumps into rock and rock attitude…a very catchy riff and drum beat kicks in…it’s very refreshing.
…The song goes back and forth between the two parts…one a big anthemic part while the other is a rock and roll part.
Around the middle point of the song the two parts become one and hold hands with a guitar solo…
The drum beat goes half-time…the guitars lay down some epic wide heavy chords…
The vocals soar all the way through the track…with a kind of group vocals, it’s anthemic.
It’s rare to experience such a band that is absolutely brilliant and also very nice and gives back…and apparently, they are a lot of fun too…just check the poster for “Life Is A Dirty War”…they definitely have a sense of humor to go with all of that talent too.
“Life Is A Dirty War” has been recorded at Snap Studios by Billy Foster and mastered by John Davis at Metropolis Studios, who worked with The Killers, U2, Royal Blood and many more
The Lunar Keys are extremely excited about having their latest song “Life Is A Dirty War” shown on BBC Introducing.
Previous Lunar Keys releases have had more than 400,000 views and streams and over 3500 plays from more than 400 radio stations including BBC Wales, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing…while also having 4 The Lunar Keys singles being titled “Track of the Week”.
The Lunar Keys are doing something really epic, both on a musical and community level.
They deserve all the light that has been shining on them…and even a lot more.
You’re making the world a better place on so many levels and we wish you all the luck in the world.
