Kyle & the Bestfriends just released their new song, “ksbf”. They are a band hailing from Brooklyn, New York and their band is rooted in the idea of loyalty and friendship. This song is part of their album “The Death of Kyle & the Best Friends”, which takes place after Kyle wakes up in a post-apocalyptic world where he forms Kyle & the Best Friends to find out how the world came to be like this.
The song started off with very gentle drums and a mellow guitar which reminds me vaguely of 90’s Shoegaze music. The entire song for me is reminiscent of Joy Division, with Kyle’s vocals being similar to that of Ian Curtis’. The entire song really makes you feel like you’re in a post-apocalyptic world, which I think was the point of the album!
All in all, I am completely in love with the fact that this song was part of a concept album, where its a part of a big story being told through intricate, well-thought-out songs. Ksbf was just 4 minutes and 12 seconds of alt-goodness, no wonder it’s their most popular song on Spotify.
