Selling out in both Britain and Ireland, embarking on a ten-night back-to-back tour and releasing multiple singles to foster an audience outside of their home country, kleio has had a fantastic past few months. Bringing nostalgia into the new age with their shining yet gritty indie sound, their audience now stretches to the limits of the British Isles.
kleio’s latest track ‘four’ opens with a glowing mix of hi-hat rhythms, melody-drenched guitar accompaniment and a gentle vocal introduction. Moving through the swayer, it slowly has the opportunity to burst into life, emerging into a chorus that feels like cheers running through a crowd. Into the next verse, each instrument gets more involved, taking on a lead line that feels cohesive despite each part being out on its own. This shoots us into a new build-up, the vocalisations becoming more and more momentous before flinging listeners into a huge final chorus. If there were ever a perfect set-ender, kleio has come very close.
Band member Luke explains, ”When writing the song ‘four’ we really had our live audience in mind. We began our playing career performing a mix of originals and covers and always wanted to have one of our songs sang back to us the way audiences would with the covers. ‘four’ has become that exact song, one of our favourite moments as a band so far was playing ‘four’ to a sold-out crowd who completely took over in Belfast, I had to give up singing the latter half of the song because of the noise.”
