Despite their recent debut, kleio is fast becoming a household name in their home of the southeast of Ireland. Embarking on a tour across their home country, visiting ten venues in ten nights, they showcased their debut single ‘lowlights and batteries’. Opening 2024 with three sold-out shows in Waterford, Dublin and Cork, and upcoming performances at home in Belfast and across the sea in Manchester, the four-piece had once again unveiled an infectious indie sound in new single ‘yoko’.
The fresh track immediately draws you in with a soaring lead guitar gliding through a high-octane backdrop of distorted chords, driven bass lines and boisterous drums. The energy continues in the vocal, an impassioned delivery of gleaming melodies that perfectly contrast the more gritty instrumentation. Each moment is a vibrant explosion of sound, bursting out of the music as if the band is in the room with you. Wrapping up with a thundering guitar solo and climactic final chorus the track holds its momentum until the final moment, disappearing as quickly as it appeared.
Band member Luke Kelly shares, “This is a song we wrote with a live audience in mind, we had just started gigging again and thought our audience deserved a real anthem. We love the early 2000’s anthemic indie sound because it’s what we grew up on so this song is meant to be a love-letter of sorts to that”
