Nashville-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and producer Loose Bolts A.K.A Ian Brice has released his alt-country folk hit song “Judy” around the end of last July to a great reception…and today we’re going into the nitty gritty details of the song and get to know the artist more…

Loose Bolts’ first-ever release was in the summer of 2015…at that time he was living in Florida, playing drums for punk/death metal bands…such versatility this guy has to go from punk to metal to country…

The single “Judy” was recently featured on Lightning 100, a prestigious local indie radio station in Nashville. Loose Bolts was also a featured act in the recent Sofar Sounds event in Nashville.

On “Judy”, Ian worked with Hunter West (Mountains Like Wax, Goldpark) who engineered the drums, vocals, guitars and bass guitar on the track, while all other elements were recorded and produced by Ian himself.

“Judy” was mixed by Hunter West and mastered by Sam Moses Mastering.

When Loose Bolts crafted “Judy”, it was part of a 4 song EP titled “Temerity”…and that EP tells the story of a relationship, from its inception to the very end…and in that journey, “Judy” talks about the phase where all the subtle hints of toxicity is starting to expose itself…

The lyrical nature of the song is one that easily extends and touches almost any listeners’ hearts.

The song itself, musically is mesmerizing, the guitars are rhythmic, yet chill…and along the guitars, the vocals tell the story and the fiddle fills the air…

The vocals are breathtaking, full of subtle emotional energy…the song continues to build up bit by bit…and at one unsuspecting moment you’re listening to a climactic wide-sounding electric guitar part…

The musical progression is absolutely phenomenal…touching, emotional and super melodic…especially whenever the fiddle plays something, it elevates the emotional experience instantly…

…at one moment, it felt like Ian was about to break into a punk rock section…he didn’t, but it still would have been awesome.

“Judy” has all the emotional colors of the spectrum…making it a highly recommended musical and lyrical experience for literally anyone who listens to music. “Judy” is a must.

Wishing all the best to Loose Bolts…we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next, we’re sure it’s going to be phenomenal.

Cheers!
