Creating music in his home in North Yorkshire, England, Jack Simpson is a musician driven by the art of songwriting. Staying out of the spotlight, Jack rarely performs or features as a vocalist in his music. Instead, he lets his songwriting do the talking, with intermittent releases spanning the past twenty years, delving into topics of nature, family and St Francis.
Jack’s most recent release is an observational new EP ‘Jack Simpson Is Looking Up At The Trees’, a project that brings together six tracks with eclectic influence. A distinctive amalgamation of singer-songwriter folk, classic rock and pop, Jack details his perceptions through bouncy rhythm sections, flowing guitar lines and the occasional high-energy brass arrangement. Throughout the project, Jack delivers a personal and authentic performance, not shying away from the less-than-glamorous reality of day-to-day as he delivers wistful vocals and heartfelt lyricism.
The EP centres around the ebb and flow of life, diving into a range of diverse topics, which Jack explains, sharing, ”This EP uses songs written over the past 40 years. It varies in context from a simple birthday song to a complex observation of the beauty of nature/God in a tree. In between are songs about babies and spirituality. It is about everything in life.”
