Brick Bosso just released his latest single ‘Imaginary World’ from his upcoming album ‘Your Circus Animal’. The track is the second release from Bosso this month, next to his wonderful cover of the Hall and Oates classic “I Can’t Go For That”. Brick Bosso plays all the instruments on this track, except for the acoustic and electric guitars played by his friend and collaborator Eric Endo

The track has all the elements that used to make 80s pop-rock anthems and arena rock amazing. If you like Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, and A-Ha then you will love the poppy keyboards and bright vibes of this track as well as the super catchy drum machines. Kudos to Brick Bosso (Keith Walsh) and Eric Endo for making this combination of beautiful sounds possible, and for making it bright and nostalgic.

The effect on the vocals makes them fit the style and production. With a brightly colored and light chest voice, Brick Bosso uses twang and a hint of nasality to make the dreamy Bowie-like sound with which he sings on this tune remain in the listener’s mind for days after first hearing the song.

All in all, this track filled me with joy and I’m positive I wouldn’t have guessed its release date if I found it on Spotify or YouTube. I would’ve thought it was released sometime in the 70s and 80s, but that’s the beauty of Brick Bosso‘s musicianship. His ability to interweave the old and nostalgic together with the modern and fresh sounds to create a timeless masterpiece has taken my complete surprise, and for this, I recommend this beautiful song to you.
