A rising band hailing from the city of Liverpool, Honey Motel, comprised of Matt Walker, Same Meredith, Jack Hughes and Lew Fogg have built a bubbling anticipation around their unique, transcendent, psychedelic-pop sound. On a mission to push the boundaries of their genre, whilst sweeping through vast storytelling worlds, Honey Motel draw from their Mersey paradise and has become one to watch.
Honey Motel‘s debut EP ‘The Manatee’ may only sprinkle their discography with one new single, but it does nothing by halves, bringing together five roaring tracks of pure indie exuberance, making melancholy sparkle, leaving plenty of room for a warm embrace and cementing the band as anthemic songwriters.
Since their debut, Honey Motel‘ themes have lay in crafting a musical oasis, their very essence meant to transport listeners to a new environment and into a wider storyline. With ‘The Manatee’, the band deliver that message, taking you by the hand into the unknown, lacing the path with grit and emerging on the other side with a bright sound and a new outlook.
Twinkling guitar melodies, raw, authentic vocals, intricate rhythms and an aura of uniqueness as their chord progressions rise and descend in their own words, ‘Welcome to the Honey Motel, enjoy your stay’.
“If anybody tells you they know exactly what they are doing in this life, they are lying,” adds the band’s songwriter and guitarist Sam Meredith, “Nobody knows the meaning of all this. Not a soul. If they claim they do, then they are deluded. As you get into your twenties all those who you think have it figured out really don’t, and those who seem really lost aren’t that lost at all. How can you know what you’re doing if you truly don’t know the point of it all? But at the same time, how can you be lost if you don’t know why you’re here? Just relax, some of the most interesting people I’ve met don’t know what they are meant to be doing in this life.”
