The Afro Nick brilliantly blends electronic cues and production warping with an organic rock orchestra on his latest single ‘Get There Before Noon (LA mix)’ for sublime results.
The Afro Nick is a singer and songwriter currently based in Los Angeles. Having recorded his latest single in different studios across New York City, The Afro Nick draws heavy inspiration from his childhood and upbringing on the Greek island of Crete, with its mixed heritage of European and Mediterranean cultures; an inspiration that can be located on the song’s eclectic mix of droning and twisting synths, located side by side the energetic rock drumming and overdriven and warm electric guitar riffs. A great mix of styles.
‘Get There Before Noon (LA mix)’ features input from Grammy-winning synth and keyboard player Leonardo Genovese, which explains the terrific synth performances that are found on the melancholic, groovy track. Sung about attempting to make the most out of the moment while living it, the song’s general sense of melancholy is drawn from the chord progression, at once familiar and provocative. The guitar solo is also a clear standout moment on the song, with its heavily modulated tone and bluesy phrasing.
‘Get There Before Noon (LA mix)’ is an eclectic but absolutely stunning piece of alternative rock that features some fascinating synth sounds and performances that propel it alongside its already amazing songwriting. An easy winner from The Afro Nick.
