Scott Bentley’s fifth single of the year, Fool Becomes a Rose proves that the singer delivers an incredible level of emotional depth and authenticity.

The song begins with a hollow, probably steelcase, country guitar and Scott’s deep voice. You can tell when you hear that he has a quality that’s both melodic but a little bit frail, showing his age and the development of his voice. The way he sings with respect to the drum beat and the tempo is impeccable. It’s like he sways with the other instruments, as if he’s an instrument himself.

The song felt like it was taken from a movie soundtrack due to the crystal clear nature of the vocals and the simple layering (sometimes it was even a single strong layer of vocals) that makes u envision the story that the lyrics are depicting.

Speaking of the lyrics, they are some of the best I have yet to hear this year. The idea is how both sides of a troubled relationship will throw the blame on each other almost every single time a problem happens, and I find this so sad yet so truthful that it makes the song more heartfelt and relatable.

If you’re into country songs that feel like movie soundtracks and have impeccable guitar work, then this is the song for you.
