AUSTIN, TX | FEBRUARY 23, 2023: Alternative Punk record label, merch manufacturing, and record store brand Smartpunk, has announced it will be hosting the first annual Smartpunk House during SXSW in Austin, TX this year. Smartpunk House will feature more than 34 bands across 3 Stages over 2 days, with tons to do including skateboarding/BMX on a ramp, tattoos, featured drinks from Van Gogh Vodka, Cutty Sark Scotch, Topo Chico, a merch and vinyl pop-up, local vendors, and more.

Supported by Ernie Ball, Orange Amps and SJC Drums, the stages will feature artists such as Nappy Roots, Kosha Dillz, Ratboys, Harbour, Softcult, Blvck Hippie, Rodeo Boys, Debt Neglector, Virginity, and more to be announced soon. While Smartpunk Records are presenting the event, it is an event for everyone – an oasis away from the chaos of SXSW where friends can gather, have a drink, skate, and share stories of nostalgia over good music of all genres. On the first annual event, Label Manager Matt Burns states:

“This event has more or less been 3 years in the making, hiccuped by COVID, the uncertainty of live events, and just general procrastination. To see so many cool artists and companies and humans come together for a fun show in one of my favorite cities in the country is all I could have dreamed of. If you grew up going to the Vans Warped Tour in the early 2000s, then the Smartpunk name should ring a bell. Smartpunk was an online retailer, specializing in pre-orders for bands’ new albums and merchandise. In 2016, the brand was acquired by AKT Enterprises —and Smartpunk Records was launched. Starting as a reissue vinyl record label (bringing Set Your Goals’ Mutiny! and Gameface’s Good back to life), Smartpunk began signing bands in 2017. The company soon opened its online vinyl store and added almost a hundred more releases under its belt. It also released exclusive variants with other labels such as Fearless Records, Hopeless Records, Side One Dummy, Rise Records, and others. With a quirky obsession with crazy variants of vinyl, punk rock, and Weird Al (no, really.), Smartpunk Records is a record label for musicians, by musicians.
