Psychedelic indie rock band The Open Flames releases a ‘red pill’ of a song that takes you out of the day and time we live in, and taking you to a time and place that feels familiar, yet new…”Falling Up 1″ feels like a fresh start to indie music and your day.
The Open Flames is composed of old friends from the well established bands Sleepy Kitty, Harvey Danger (of the hit 90s song, “Flagpole Sitta” heard at the opening of “Peep Show”) and Say Yes, Do Nothing.
“Falling Up 1” is minimally brilliant…depending on the guitar, the human voice and a very interesting stringed instrument that stands in the musical backdrop the experience, adding a layer of melody on a subliminal level…it sounds like an old cinematic piano…in any case, it serves the bigger picture…feels like by listening to “Falling Up 1” you’re creating memories in your head…I know if sounds pretty far-fetched, but yeah, it does that.
The vocals feel intimate, emotional and vibrant…full of stories…
…and a huge aspect of what makes “Falling Up 1” super interesting is the amount of reverb on just about everything…it’s so dreamy that it sucks you into a dream.
…a little nugget of info here, “Falling Up 1” is an acoustic demo of a full version of the song recorded for the album…which will be called “Same Time Next Year”.
Let your mind soar and let your heart feel by listening to The Open Flames‘ latest single “Falling Up 1”.
Wishing all the best to the great artists behind The Open Flames…and we need more of that now! Cheers!
