Putting their diverse influences and strong creative vision to use, the Chicago-based rockers Aisle Five dropped their single Evil Eye on the 22nd of September 2023. Originally formed after bassist Meriah Fearon responded to a Facebook post by vocalist Izzie Rutledge, Aisle Five quickly completed their lineup with guitarists Malcolm Filichia and Simon Shah and drummer Ethan Reinbach, embarking on a new journey that I believe you’ll all be joining. Let me tell you more about it.
Aisle Five opened Evil Eye with mellow warm arpeggios before activating a full-groovy mood, giving the listeners a hint of their melodic playful style. Aisle Five has a floating groovy sound that softly carries the listeners throughout their melodic flow, supported by their solid coherent writing as you can clearly hear every instrument taking its time to fully contribute to their sound. The beautiful, fluid conversation going between the bass, guitar, and drums set the song’s streaming groovy sound and created a multi-layered, extremely enjoyable detailed structure with a smooth dynamic flow and progression that’s directed by Izzie Rutledge‘s catchy vocals.
Evil Eye shows Aisle Five‘s influences and top-notch writing skills, as they managed to cleverly navigate and mix those influences with their own unique touch creating an organic, authentic sound with their laid-back melodies and emotionally touching flow, all within a catchy dynamic structure that keeps the listener hooked and entertained. I’ll definitely be looking forward to more from Aisle Five, keep on rocking guys. Cheers!
