All the way from Brussels, Belgium, comes the dark heavy electro musical group, ‘Factheory’ with their latest release, an EP of 4 tracks, 3 of which are meticulously remixed and gift-wrapped by the up-and-coming Brussels band Ok Lion….titled “The Day”.
The outcome of this endeavor is a downbeat electro EP with some upbeat energetic moments and some heavy synths and surgical drum beats.
Speaking of Ok Lion…the brains behind the operations is Stéphane Devillers, a Belgian musician.
“The Day” starts with “The Day – Long Version”, followed by the short version…
With a difference of around 1 minute and a half…either of these tracks are a very solid darkwave electro track with some heavy elements thrown in the mix, like heavy distorted drums beats…very gritty and edgy.
The synths and arpeggiators play a very crucial role in the overall heaviness of the sound…arps are tough and hit hard every time their sound is heard…while the vocals also contribute to the overall character of the sound and to the essence of the tracks.
Vocals are distorted and going through a myriad of effects to perfect this unique world that these guys have crafted for us to live in.
Going into the third track, it’s “ Souvent”.
A dark wave electro track with some rock hints here and there…and a strong pop presence, but a dark pop tone.
Electric guitars electrify this song and give it a huge mojo boost.
The fourth and last track is “Got You”…this one feels like being taken out of a Hollywood movie…this is a downbeat cyberpunk-ish indie pop/rock song…its many things, including having the charisma and power to appear on screen in a movie and be part of its soundtrack.
…there was also a clip shot for “The Day – Long Version” and this must be the reason why they have 2 versions of the same track. The music video already has a trailer on youtube, go check it out.
Factheory fills a huge gap in the international music scene in the darkwave world with actual good music.
We enjoyed the EP very much and looking forward for the release of the music video….and Factheory…keep’em coming, wishing you all the best in the world.
Cheers!
