Following his last year’s single “Horizon”, Ross Freedman recently released his fourth release, a 4 track EP titled “My Enemy”…a very musical storytelling EP that is filled to the brim with melodies and very artistic energy.
The 4 songs were performed by…
Ross Freedman on electric guitars, synth pads and strings, sampler, toy piano, tambourine, shaker, lead and backing vocals
Gerald Dowd on drums
Steve Dawson on bass, electric guitars, synth bass, Mellotron, backing vocals
The EP starts with the titled song “My Enemy”…a very energetic folk/indie rock song with fast-paced and upbeat musical energy…the melodies are instantly catchy…
Moving into the second song, Ross decides to take the upbeat energy down and take us in a tour of musical smoothness…”All This Time” is an excellently paced and produced folk/indie song with both an iconic verse and chorus…the song is super musical…and the instrumentation is excellent…the vibey background sounds and toy piano are absolutely on point…once again, the melodies are brilliant…and let’s not forget the guitar solo, short and sweet, perfectly balanced with the song…this is a great musical experience.
….moving along the EP, we take a proverbial dive into a more ambient folk/indie song “Let You Go”…the seabed of synth pads works perfectly with the backing vocals and fills the air in an ambient night sky…”Let You Go” would perfectly fit on the big screen in a movie, easily. This is a very anthemic experience.
Taking the energy up a notch with the last song on the EP, “Worst Of Me” has a very groovy bass and drum section…speaking of the drums, there’s a very iconic drum fill before each chorus…love it.
“Worst Of Me” is a very groovy folk/indie musical experience that manages to keep us hooked till the very end of the journey with Ross’ EP “My Enemy”…
Ross manages to maintain a high level of melody craftsmanship all throughout the EP, making him aim for a bullseye to our emotions…this is brilliance.
“My Enemy” was recorded at Kernel Sound Emporium and Oaksonic Industries. Produced by Steve and Ross. Mixed by Steve. Mastered by Carl Saff, Saff Mastering, Chicago.
Wishing Ross all the best in life, he deserves it.
We can’t wait to hear what he comes up with next…but we’re sure it’s going to be awesome.
Cheers!
