Typically, I gravitate towards a storytelling approach, particularly for country and Americana music releases. In a nutshell, I consider Ben Tucker to be the top country artist I’ve come across in 2024. Let me explain why below.
The 5-track EP kicks off with the lead single ‘At Your Side,’ which has received high praise from both critics and fans. His compelling and heartfelt vocals will easily captivate you with his unique style. As you delve deeper into this exceptional EP, you’ll notice the distinct characteristics of each track, which I found quite impressive. Let’s be honest, one of the mainreasons that Americana and country styles aren’t as popular nowadays is due to artists releasing repetitive tracks. However, this EP stands out as Ben Tucker skillfully combines a variety of bluesy atmospheres with country structures.
Ben Tucker elaborated about the production process “These songs were recorded in Black Dog Studios, just south of Nashville, with Pete Jacobs as producer/ engineer.” His musical voyage began at 8 years old, and by the time he was 11, he was already composing his own songs. Initially part of the synthpop duo The Fizzgigs, he went on to establish the garage rock band Albino after completing his university studies, leading to numerous extensive tours with the band. “As well as me – and a lot of Pete (guitar, backing vocals, harmonica), the musicians are: Kevin Keith (drums, percussion, piano), Marshall Carlson (bass), Kayla Lunden (backing vocals), Mark Whitehead (pedal steel) and Merna Lewis (fiddle).” – Tucker added. In my view, with such experience and talent, I believe that Ben Tucker will become one country’s icons soon.
