Mama Said is a Northern California-based female-fronted rock band, including Jennifer Knight and Latifa Reeves as dual-lead vocalists, as well as Derek Bromley, a brilliant guitarist. “Diamonds & Cigarettes” is a single from “Change in the Weather’s” upcoming debut album, which is set to be released in the spring of 2022, and based on that single, we’re waiting for a promising album. The single captures the dilemma of relationships that don’t have a bright future sign and their present isn’t much of a blessing either, yet somehow, they carry on. Their lyrics are unblemished; they managed to immerse us in the relationship and see its contradictions, and how the “opposites attract” law works with romance.

Their unique sound is a fusion of classic rock from the late 70’s, early 80’s, and early 90’s, which gives nostalgic vibes. Although, it’s not all retro-mood as there are modern-pop hints. The bluesy guitar riffs and solid drums’ beats have a dreamy atmosphere in their harmonies and merge with Jennifer Knight and Latifa Reeves’ intense, smoky, rich vocals have incredible chemistry that makes their performance resonate through your ears into your bones, reaching your soul. They refer to their sound as “New Classic Rock”, and that’s exactly what we got in the fascinating arrangement of Diamonds & Cigarettes.”
