After a successful year of touring and the release of their highly acclaimed cover of MJ‘s Dirty Diana, the American rockers Thrillkiller summed up everything their sound is about in their latest single Dark Star. Using their diverse influences, Thrillkiller mixes synth and rock with their pop-ish upbeat sound, creating a unique mix that feels like modernized 80s glam. Thrillkiller flex their writing skills and musicianship on Dark Star, creating one hell of a catchy structure that keeps the listener on board from start to end, with captivating melodies, irresistible groove, and extremely powerful vocals that kept the song’s dynamics and vibes over the top. The guitar and synth conversation is pretty incredible, with both knowing when to stay in the background and when to step forward, each taking their time to shine and all topped by that mesmerizing vocal melody.
Dark Star is a tune that shouldn’t be missed by any music fan, its diverse sound made it approachable to a wide range of audiences, and with it being that catchy, it’s highly possible to slip into your “On Repeat” playlist.
