With a record planned at the beginning of 2023, Stockholm-based project Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends is back with his new single “Coffee” alongside guest guitarist Daniel Lagerlöf, a fellow Redmoon member as Alien Friend. Alongside its unique sound and rich melodies, Alien Friend described “Coffee” as,
“On the surface a joyful song about drinking coffee, in its core COFFEE is a desperate, ironic tale about a world falling apart, with references to a middle class turning a blind eye to while flying around the world, playing golf”
So, let’s dig deep into it,
Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends keeps on artistically swinging between big sounds and massive grooves and mellow storytelling melodies on “Coffee”, he opens with a simple melancholic oriental orchestration that blasts into a groove fest with powerful trumpets and fast bass that afterward formed the song’s catchy chorus, the verse steers into a more melodic fluid verse with storytelling delivery and multilayered vocal harmonies and as we progress, those melodies take over control until they peak at the interlude around the 2:00 minutes mark that brings back those oriental vibes at the intro, I loved how “Coffee” exploded after that interlude mashing its moods together and building up towards a big, well-planned outro.
“Coffee” is a smooth fluid melodic journey by Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends that doesn’t lack excitement and a moving groove, says a lot about his musicianship and a solid vision of his sound and production. Totally recommended and will definitely be keeping an eye on Arn-Identified Flying Objects and Alien Friends, cheers!
