Deliciously rich, Ginko Bugs’s latest single ‘Close in October’ is an artful piece of alternative pop that makes use of some stunning chord progressions, a sensational string arrangement, and exquisitely warm mix, and Ginko Bugs’s usual, whimsical nature.

A band based in the Swedish town of Brottby, Ginko Bugs is a quintet composed of Bo Biloba on the vocals and the acoustic guitar, Peter’s drums, Tom’s lead guitar, Key Winder’s keyboards, and Barnabass’s bass. The sound that the 5-piece is delivering on ‘Close in October’ is a truly intoxicating mix of melancholy, whimsy, and warm hearted 90s acoustic rock. An infectious vibe for sure.

The short single is perhaps most distinctive with its lush strings and distinctively dark chord sequences and melodies. Starting with majestic folk vibes that soon dissipate into controlled, melodic rock jangliness, with a steady, roomy beat and tight strums. Throughout, Bo Biloba’s vocals remain rather lovely and is very heartfelt with his sense of dynamics and mildly dramatic delivery, resulting in a song that is very easy to listen to, feel, and relate to.

‘Close in October’ charmingly does not break any grounds, opting to stir the senses instead through its delightful ease of flow, its well thought out structure, and rather pretty chords and strings. Nothing too crazy, yet a song that is thoroughly memorable and immersive.
