Charlie Tonight is a project of ambition. After stepping into the world of classical music on a quest for stardom, Charlie and her band are cranking up the distortion for an electrifying rock embrace. She debuted earlier this year with ‘Do You Want Me (Come On)’, and with her latest track ‘Lost It’, she continues to lay out her sound, enticing a broader audience as she does so.
The opening moments of ‘Lost It’ are filled with atmospheric licks, whilst the drum dictates a firm tempo. Charlie’s vocals are immediately enticing, balancing a smooth, expressive sound with a raw and unfiltered element.
Letting the notes extend beyond just stabbing shouts, Charlie brings the rock n roll, her lyricism itself collecting that heartbroken cry and blasting it out from the front row to the back of the room. Her control is impressive, but she harnesses an obsessive frenzy that makes all the difference from an accurate performance into a bewitching one.
This is what Charlie had to say, “‘Lost It’ is about two people, coming together from different worlds, who experience an overwhelming attraction to one another. One of them is a woman with a dark past a non-conforming body with the single sparking how diversity can shake convictions like a thunderstorm. That can be scary – are you going to embrace your fear?”
