As we all know, a medley is a tribute consisting of connected parts from different songs for a specific artist or a band. Some bands either perform medleys for themselves or for others. Here’s what I found is the best of all!
1. Metallica – Mercyful Fate Medley
A medley for their old friend King Diamond and one of their influences acts Mercyful Fate. In fact, Metallica are very good in medleys and covers as their latest was for Ronnie James Dio in his tribute album This Is Your Life, a medley titled on Ronnie Rising Medley.
2. Mira Fana ft. Amir – A Metallica Tribute
The Malaysian young lady is a hard rock/heavy metal artist who started to gain fame by uploading her covers on YouTube. In this video, she chose tracks that aren’t played much; “This is the ‘NOT YOUR TYPICAL METALLICA MEDLEY’!! Why? Because there so many covers of ‘Master of Puppets’, ‘Enter Sandman’, ‘Seek and Destroy’, etc, out there! The non-typical ones need some love too!!” As she described her video.
The chosen songs for the medley were; ‘Metal Militia’, ‘Ride the Lightning’, ‘Disposable Heroes’, ‘To Live is To Die’, ‘Holier Than Thou’, ‘Ain’t My Bitch’, ‘The Memory Remains’, ‘Some Kind of Monster’ and ‘My Apocalypse’.
3. Charlie Parra del Riego – Big 4 Medley
This guy is awesome! He did a kick-ass medley for the Big 4. Check it out and tell me if you think so too.
4. Dream Theater – Led Zeppelin Medley
This medley is one of the covers that DT did for bands who influenced us, such as; Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Queen, Kansas, Genesis, Dixie Dregs and Elton John.
5. Candlemass – Black Sabbath Medley
This medley track is featured in the third album of the Swedish doom metal masters, Candlemass. The bonus track includes parts of ‘Symptom of the Universe’, ‘Sweet Leaf’, ‘Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’, ‘Into the Void’, ‘Electric Funeral’, ‘Supernaut’ and ‘Black Sabbath’.
6. Metallica’s Ronnie Rising Medley
There are many good medleys for the legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio, I preferred to chose the ‘Ronnie Rising Medley’ which was featured in the tribute album that was given to Dio in 2014. The album includes many great cover songs too by Anthrax, Tenacious D, Scorpions and many others.
7. Erock – Michael Jackson Meets Metal!
Eric Calderone is one of the very talented artists on YouTube. The guy has numerous great videos and most of them are covers and tributes. In this video he pays a tribute to the King of Pop by playing most of his hits with nice guitar arrangements.
8. De Toppers – Queen Medley
They are a Dutch pop band formed in 2005. The band released more than 10 DVDs for their live performances. In 2013, they performed a medley for Queen Concert BV under exclusive license to Dino Music, a division of EMI Music Netherlands BV.
9. Accordion Rock Orchestrion – Hard Rock Medley
You didn’t see that coming, right? Accordion Rock is a Russian group specialized in playing the most well-known classic rock hits with percussive instruments accompanied with accordions. I highly recommend you check their channel; for my choice for this list, I preferred to chose their hard rock tribute which was performed for Deep Purple, King Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Beatles and Black Sabbath.
10. Rodrigo y Gabriela ft. Robert Trujillo – Metallica Medley
In August 2014 the remarkable Mexican group performed a medley for Metallica featuring Robert Trujillo at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison playing ‘Orion’, ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’, ‘The Frayed Ends of Sanity’ and ‘Battery’.
