The vibes of gloomy june’s pop-punk on their latest cut ‘back from the dead’ are absolutely infectious. A song dotted with memorable melodies, a terrific groove, and a gorgeous vocal delivery, ‘back from the dead’ continues to plot gloomy june as a capable and relevant outfit capable of some really great tunes.

Based in San Francisco, gloomy june, a punk pop 4-piece, charmingly refer to themselves as the funeral version of a wedding band, and their rich blend of high energy synths, breakneck pacing, punk and emo sensibilities, and fantastic production makes their music rather unforgettable.

‘back from the dead’ is released as the first single off gloomy june’s debut album, and the incredibly well-written and constructed song, and the affectionately filmed video of the song, featuring a colorful pair of scenes, of the band performing in some kind of white-walled, wedding-like atmosphere, and another in a cemetery, are both testaments to a band in total control of all elements of their craft. The punchy song and its quick tempo blend of rich, overdriven guitars, melodic, bouncy bass, tight grooves, and passionate vocals are all entirely engaging to the point of the song being downright infectious in its energy.

The first single of gloomy june’s debut album is promising indeed. The wonderfully produced song got us all impatient to find out what this fresh-faced and creative outfit has for us in store next.
