In 2011, four-piece indie-rock outfit Atari Pilot emerged from Swindon with a debut album entitled ‘Navigation of the world by sound’. After this the band went dark, however in 2020, upon the recovery of vocalist Onze, the group was reignited, releasing consistent singles in the years following. Made up of the aforementioned Onze on vocals, Paj on bass, Andy on drums and Frosty on guitar, the group recently released new single ‘The rules never change’.

Opening with a synth tone nostalgic of the 80s, the track then introduces a heartfelt vocal above a gentle drum groove. As the music weaves its way through the first verse, the instrumentation builds, before bursting into life by the chorus, where distorted melodies rise through the music. With each passing moment, more reverberant layers fill the atmosphere, as the vocals deliver infectious lyricism.

“This was a nice change up , those baggy drums with a more funky bass line. The theme of the song being how we’re sometimes drawn to things that are bad for us and we have to handle the consequences.”
