Knock Knock, Missy is the latest EP by the young British band Another Man’s Poison, but who are these guys, you may ask? Well they’re 3 British lads from Grimsby, England that play alternative rock/punk.
Their current lineup consists of: Fredrick, Robertson, and Wrigglington, but neither their Facebook nor their bandcamp pages specify their roles in the band. The band was started in 2012 so they’re obviously pretty new but they have released 1 LP, 2 EPs, a demo and a single song so far which is quite a good pace if you ask me…
Now, how do they describe their music? They call themselves an alternative punk rock band, which is quite accurate in my opinion. I’m not a huge fan of the genre in general but I like these guys a bit, they know what they’re doing and it seems like they love it. The EP was okay even if it isn’t the sort of music I listen to, but the tracks were too short in my opinion but it’s normal for punk music in general, with the first track clocking in at 2 minutes and 37 seconds and the second track at 2 minutes 52 seconds. So, it isn’t a big deal since when you look at The Ramones for example; their music is about as long but with modern recording quality which is appreciated.
Speaking of the recording quality, I’m really picky when it comes to quality and I really have to give these guys some credit, for a new indie band their quality is quite good even though the drums were a bit too distorted, they weren’t all that bad considering it’s punk and the drums aren’t anything impressive.
So what’s my overall opinion? Although I’m not a huge punk rock fan, I’d recommend them totally! If you’re a fan of the genre I suggest checking their Facebook and Bandcamp page, also listen to their song below.
